Little habits that can make your life better and bring you huge rewards

There can be times when life feels overwhelming between work, family, and friends. You feel like you are failing, and this can be stressful. However, there are probably some little things you can do to make your life easier.

If you don't change something you do every day, you can't change your life. The formula for success lies in your everyday actions. I've outlined six habits that will make you do wonders, sweetheart, from prioritizing self-care to eating intuitively.

1. PRIORITIZE SELF-CARE

The concept of investing in self-care doesn't have to mean spending every weekend at the spa; it can mean carving out a few minutes every day to nurture yourself. Making time for self-care is an investment in your future, which eventually improves all of your life's facets. We can easily overlook our well-being amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Developing small habits like brewing up a cup of coffee or doing a yoga session in the morning, putting your favorite essential oils in a diffuser, or simply buying a piece of fresh-cut flowers can make a world of difference in your happiness and well-being. Also, you can't always be perfect when it comes to self-care. Life-loving people don't worry about being perfect. Instead, learn from imperfections and rework your routine accordingly.

2. KNOW WHEN TO SAY NO.

I understand that helping others is nice, but too many people struggle with saying no and wind up overscheduled and overburdened. Honestly, it's OK to turn down a request if it's not a priority for you. Being aware of and respecting your boundaries is another habit that is imperative to have. If you constantly say "yes" to people because you're afraid to say "no," it might negatively affect your work, and you might resent the ones asking for help.

Be aware of what's at stake for yourself. You can achieve your goals faster and restore your equilibrium if you develop the habit of saying no when necessary. However, declining someone can be unsettling, especially if you are a people-pleaser.

3. KNOW WHEN TO UNPLUG YOUR PHONE

Every aspect of our daily lives involves our phones, from texts and emails to Instagram and Twitter. With so many possibilities at our fingertips, it's sometimes hard to know when to log off or just be.

A healthy relationship with technology doesn't mean throwing your phone in the garbage and living in the woods; learning how to set boundaries is paramount. Developing a habit of not checking emails before you've finished your morning routine, or establishing a weekly Instagram-free day, can help you succeed.

4. PRACTICE GRATITUDE

Being grateful for what we have helps us maintain a positive mental attitude and lead a more productive, healthier life. I remain optimistic in the midst of the darkest of times because I know there are always glimmers of hope.

Make it a habit to write down one thing you're glad for every day, or spend 30 seconds each night reflecting on your blessings. It doesn't have to be anything huge. Even a tiny gesture like, "Thankful to have coffee in the morning," can help remind you that positives outweigh negatives.

5. EAT INTUITIVELY

Back in the day, you may have tried a few fad diets, but you've eventually settled on a wholesome approach to food, even if you didn't know what it was called. In a nutshell, the idea behind intuitive eating is to eat when you're hungry and stop when you're satisfied. Sounds simple, right?

Well, it is. Intuitive eating involves understanding how your body feels and works in relationship with what you put into it, rather than counting calories or labeling whole food groups as off-limits. This habit aims to help you change your relationship with food instead of solely shedding pounds. The result makes you feel fabulous inside and out.

6. BE KIND & LOVING

We treat love like such a finite resource, but it isn't. It is infinite and eternal. It is the best gift you can ever give to anyone. Unfortunately, your ego prevents you from doing so. You are always seeking compensation. So try out this habit. Embrace your unlimited capacity for love and kindness, and give a little of it away every day. Don't worry about counting points; you've got more than enough.

The bottom line:

A good habit always pays off. If you make your new habits an everyday part of your routine, you are more likely to succeed. At first, you might notice changes slowly, but eventually, they will become part of your identity. To make good habits stick, follow all the above habits until your life gets better. Once you reach that point, you'll continue moving forward not reluctantly but voluntarily.
