"Females are the most beautiful, gorgeous creatures in the whole world. And I think that we are gorgeous no matter what size we are."
-Alicia Keys
Come March 8th, and the world is abuzz with the celebration of a very ‘Happy International Women’s Day’! It is a special day that we set aside to celebrate their various economic, social, political, and cultural achievements. And why not?
In its true essence, this day is a celebration of the feminine power of nature that nurtures life. The woman is the creator. She inspires all and beautifully breathes life into the non-living; thus, transforming even a house of mere concrete and stone into a lively home, that bubbles with life and energy!
Speak of working women, and they are juggling multiple roles at the same time. Be it the home front or the work arena, they are proving their prowess in all the different domains. Big multinationals, corporates, top government portfolios, and offices are being headed by ladies. Armed with a liberal mind, free nature, and progressive thought process, they are instrumental in the growth of their nations.
Do you remember thanking your mother for all the times she made your favorite dish even when she couldn’t stand it? Do you thank your wife for cleaning up the room, doing the laundry, or dropping the kids to school even when she is running high fever? Well, if you haven’t, then it’s high time to express your gratitude towards them.
Being a homemaker is no less than any profession. Rather it involves more of commitment and sacrifice because it forms the very framework for the family’s well-being. Moreover, our homemakers put their plans on the back burner and prioritize their family’s needs instead. In the process, many times, their health suffers – physically, mentally, and emotionally. Let’s face it; we don’t get to know about it because they don’t breathe a word.
Just like Goddess Durga, a woman embodies the profound ability to multitask. Regardless of the complexity of challenges she faces, a woman exemplifies not only resilience but also grace and adeptness in managing them. Her capacity to navigate through adversity with unwavering strength and finesse mirrors the innate power and versatility inherent in every woman.
We believe that every woman deserves to be celebrated, not just on March 8th but every single day. Women have throughout history even today, shattered glass ceilings and defied societal norms. Hence, women's Day is meant to acknowledge the challenges they face every day and celebrate the very essence of womanhood. So, celebrate THEM, celebrate their existence. It will make them happy. Their emotional celebration is all about showing them that you care. Gift them something as simple as a flower. A gift need not be expensive, rather it is the thought and effort behind getting the gift that truly matters. It’s a small effort that makes a huge difference. So, go on and spread the word – wish all the women you know a very Happy International Women’s Day – for making this world a better place and for adding meaning to our lives!
A gratitude journal is something where people record things they are thankful for.
This Christmas may the glow within us shine brightly, not just during the holidays, but throughout the coming year through self-realization celebrations.
In the midst of parades and anthems, let's take a journey inward through the practice of mindful meditation.
